Tuross is a beautiful coastal town between Moruya and Narooma on the NSW South Coast. It’s situated on a headland between Coila and Tuross Lakes and has views out to the surrounding mountains.
Tidal lakes offer great fishing, boating and paddling. There are pristine, uncrowded beaches to swim, sunbake, walk and play on – and plenty of scenic spots to picnic. The foreshore cycle path runs around Coila Lake along the ocean front to the Tuross River.
Hiking buffs will love the Bingie Dreaming Track – a 14km hiking trail along the coast from Tuross to Congo.
You can hire a boat or canoe from the Tuross Boatshed and negotiate the waterways of Tuross Lake. Stock up on fishing supplies and head out to catch your dinner. Coila Lake offers a great spot for prawning in the summer.
The Boatshed has a great cafe right on the Lake – enjoy a coffee and breakfast in the morning or BYO and eat the fabulous fresh fish and chips in the afternoon.
If golf is your thing – Tuross Head has a picturesque hillside 9 hole course. Nearby courses at Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay mean that you’ll never have a reason not to play.
Organise a day tour to Montague Island or drive out to Potato Point to meet some kangaroos, wallabies or resident emus. Drive out to the beach on Bingie Road at dusk and see paddocks full of grazing kangaroos.
Take the family to visit Mogo Wildlife Park and explore the array of cafes and shops in this beautiful country town.
Head further south and discover the picturesque towns of Bodalla, Narooma, Bermagui and Tilba Tilba – or north to Moruya, Mogo, Broulee and Batemans Bay.
